ENRICHMENT

The Enrichment Program at ERMS brings art, nature, culture, and community into daily life, extending the Montessori classroom in meaningful ways. Children compost, garden, care for the natural world, and engage in creative expression that spark curiosity and imagination.

We believe that every child is an artist. Instead of showing children how to draw a tree, we offer a blank canvas and a shelf of materials to explore. The joy is in the process—mixing colors, experimenting with textures, and discovering along the way. This freedom nurtures confidence, creativity, and individuality, while honoring each child’s unique way of seeing the world.

Rooted in Cosmic Education, enrichment helps children see how every activity—whether tending a garden, exploring a cultural tradition, or working with their hands—connects them to a larger community. These experiences foster wonder, responsibility, and harmony, while nurturing a cohesive and intentional school environment.

MUSIC

Music is an essential part of our Montessori experience, woven into both the Pre-Primary and Primary programs. Each week, children explore rhythm, melody, and movement through hands-on lessons that spark creativity and joy. Using the Orff Method—a playful and child-centered approach—students are introduced to sounds, patterns, and instruments in ways that feel natural and engaging.

Just as Montessori materials progress from simple to complex, our music program begins with the basics: exploring high and low pitch, keeping the beat, and moving with rhythm. Over time, children are introduced to instruments such as the xylophone and glockenspiel, which give them the chance to create music themselves.

Music at ERMS is more than just a class—it’s an avenue for self-expression, confidence, and connection. It supports language development, builds listening skills, and fosters a lifelong appreciation for the arts. Most importantly, it allows children to experience the joy of making music together in a community that celebrates their voices.

PLAY

At Eagle Rock Montessori School, the outdoors is a natural extension of the classroom—just as important as time indoors. Each day, children climb, dig, run, and imagine in our outdoor spaces. Through this unstructured play, they build confidence, independence, and joy while exploring the world in their own way.

Outdoors is also where some of the most meaningful social learning happens. Children learn to work together, resolve conflicts, and care for one another. These lessons in communication and empathy reflect Montessori’s vision of peace and Cosmic Education, where children begin to understand their role in caring for themselves, each other, and the world.

Like Practical Life in the classroom, outdoor play offers purposeful activity—watering the garden, sweeping leaves, or helping a younger friend. It also sparks imagination: painting with water on the cement, creating rivers at the water tables, or inventing games together.

Outdoor play isn’t a pause from learning—it’s a continuation of it. It nurtures the whole child—mind, body, and spirit—while giving them space to explore, connect, and grow in harmony with nature and community.
